History
AMOC was officially founded in 1994 by four friends. Who, having attended a Harley Owners Group AGM, realised, that all they wanted to do, was to ride together without the rules imposed by the manufacturer run club.
The original four from Surrey, were John "Mother" Wilson, David "Crazy Dave" Levett, John "TC John" George and Peter Maxwell.
Having sat drinking in Crazy's living room talking about how strict things were at the time, someone broached the idea of starting our own club. At this point the idea of A.M.O.C (American Motorcycle Owners Club) was born. Due to the protocols required when starting your own club, it took a while to get going. However, with much help from 81 London, things progressed from an idea to a reality.
At first, the club grew very quickly from humble beginings to a membership of over four hundred by 1996 (including a member in Washington DC). Slowly, this slimmed down over the years as members moved on, to just the two chapters in Surrey and Sussex.
In fact, we managed to put on a party in August of 1994 very shortly after we started.
